Eveningwear project – an exciting opportunity for creativity

Evening wear project is one of the most exciting one to study because of its oppotunity for imagination and creativity. However, at the same time, this project is undoubtedly challenging and requires many difficult techniques.

Let's take a look what LCDF-Hanoi fashion students have to offer with their eveningwear designs this academic term!

Nguyen Hoang Dung's design conveys two opposite extremes of a woman: sensuality and innocence. The future fashion designer aims to encourage women to live true to who they are, with a hope that society will lose its prejudices against women.

The design is filled with soft and feminine colors. Impressive prints were inspired by pop icons Madonna and Mary

Tran Yen Chi's impressive design is inspired by the imagery of the Mother of Dragons in the ‘Game of Thrones’ series, as well as Medieval armory.

The highlight of the design is the leather sleeves, created with techniques such as engraving and laser cutting. Smocking technique was applied on the bustier to recreate the feel of dragon scale. The silhouette also supports a woman’s confidence.

Inspired by the marine life, Pham Huong Tra weaves the beauty of the ocean and its biological diversity into her design.

Textiles are meticulously processed through many stages such as printing, dyeing, pleating, steel rolling, especially the skirt is attached with fiber optic system and sparkling light effects. The design is highly practical and can be flexibly combined to create different styles.

Nguyen Ha Phuong's project is inspired by Surrealism, especially the works of the two most prominent artists of this movement, Salvador Dali and Elsa Schiaparelli.

With Surrealism, artists puts themselves in an unconscious state to recreate their dreams, then expresses them through uncanny images, often accompanied with hidden messages from the subconscious.

The design uses textile techniques like beading, applique, and couching to simulate a human body, mind, and emotions in an illusory and surreal world, where everything is upside down.

Europeans often recalled “La Belle Epoque” as their happiest days. Nguyen Ha Lam thus brought that vision into her designs, filled with romance and prosperity.

The dress is inspired by Victorian womenswear, with a tight corset and charming layered skirt. Pleated and printed techniques are applied on romantic pink organza to recreate the feeling of being in love with a sense of happiness.

Vietnamese women are beautiful. Although beauty standards are different in different time periods, a confident woman is always the most beautiful woman.

Nguyen Thi Minh Tam delivered that message through her evening gown design with colorful, eye-catching patterns inspired by the Vietnamese traditional "Peacock Blanket." Her pleated details also signal femininity.

The design of Pham Thi Hue Anh brings the solemn and majestic beauty of the Nguyen dynasty in Hue with the imagery of the Empress Nam Phuong as the main inspiration. The design uses brocade fabric with yellow-white tones and metallic luster as the accent to recall the luxury of the Royal family.

Bui Thi Trang's design is inspired by ceramic art.

The design has a touch of traditional values along with modern aesthetics, which was expressed through its unique shape and the sunray pleat technique. Its main colors, blue and white, aim to evoke tranquility.

Tran Thi Cam Van's design is inspired by Gothic art and the Lolita style.

The design has mysterious black tones using contrasting materials such as lace, leather, and chiffon, which evokes not only desirability but also enigma and individuality.
