London Fashion Experience

The London Fashion Experience programme is designed to give aspiring, talented and driven fashion designers a chance to experience London fashion culture. You will receive hands on engagement with industry professionals, see how fashion is promoted and produced and be a part of the London scene. The programme lasts for ten days and will give you a true insight into the London fashion industry.

OPTION 1: BRAND DEVELOPMENT FOR FASHION

  • Fashion Business Structure
  • Running a fashion business in practice
  • Structuring your business plan
  • Product and image development
  • Designing and sampling a collection through to production
  • Sourcing fabrics
  • Working with manufacturers
  • Costings and pricing
  • Understanding profit and loss and cash flow for a fashion business
  • How to sell your collection to stores
  • Marketing and promotion

The programme also offers some visit to fashion brands studio, fashion events and London Graduate Fashion Week. Certificate will be given to students who successfully complete the course in the UK.

OPTION 2: FASHION MEDIA STYLING

This styling course looks at the variety of media styling options available to you, and the day-to-day working life of a stylist. You will learn how and where to find inspiration, creating complete looks that you will shoot on the last day together with a professional photographer, model and hair and make up artist.

  • How to present your aesthetic using key fashion phrases and terms
  • Figure shapes and styling tricks
  • An in-depth look at commercial styling - lookbooks, advertisements and ecommerce
  • Understanding your audience and your client
  • Making contacts - utilising fashion PRs and social media networks to generate work
  • Pathways into styling - how to gain valuable work experience in the industry
  • Tools are needed in a styling kit and where to buy them
  • How to work on a professional studio photoshoot directing a team which includes a professional model, photographer and hair and makeup artist.

OPTION 3: Fashion Buying and Merchandising

Who decides what we are wearing next season? How do the products arrive in stores? Why are some retailers successful but others are not? This is all down to the fashion buyers and merchandisers, the main drivers of any retail business or brand and very influential decision makers.

The course will answer those fashion questions you have been thinking about.The course is a combination of discussions and practical tasks. This course covers the first and second steps in the series of our 'Fashion Buying & Merchandising' short courses.

At the end of the course, you will have:

  • Produced your own range plan of garments
  • Created a sales forecast for it
  • Created a buying plan and buying budget for it
  • Bought it in a competitive game played against the tutor
  • Allocated it to your stores, after the buying campaign is complete
