Who will be the winner of the competition “Vietnam-where I live” 2017?

The young designer talent search competition “Vietnam-where I live” is coming to the most thrilling phase: Finding out the winner and who will win a full tuition fee scholarship from London College for Design and Fashion. Let’s guess who will be the winner of the competition this year!

There have been lots of young people showing their creative passion and love for their home country through impressive drawings. There have been hundreds of works from over the country sent to the Committee of Organization in the past time, which have made them “confused” when choosing out the best work.

According to the most updated news, the 4 works including: “A glimpse of Hanoi” of Vu Thi Thanh Thu, “Brilliant My Tho” of Pham Thien Phu, “Long An” of Tran Minh Pha, and “Tien Giang- the gathering boats” of Dinh Hoang Tam have been chosen to the Final round and become the talented ambassadors of the “Vietnam-where I live” 2017 competition. Currently, the classification of the top 4 is still a big secret. And the final result will be announced at the Award Ceremony and Exhibition held on July 15th 2017 in London College for Design and Fashion.

Inspired from his beloved mother, Tran Minh Pha (1999) has made the Committee of Organization “allured” with his excellent drawing named “Long An”.

Minh Pha wants to show his love for his mother- who has been on hardship to bring him up. Wherever you go, you always have to respect your hometown. People have lots of places to go, but there is only a place to return- that’s your hometown, and that’s your mother.

The poetic and idyllic images illustrated in “A glimpse of Hanoi’ of Vu Thi Thanh Thu (1997) creates first memories for people when speaking of Hanoi. The old ancient capital lies inside the river which gathers places, special food of Trang An. Her drawing uses 2 main colors: Blue is the color of peace, the city of peace, and red is the color of passion, deep affection that each person has for Hanoi-Vietnam.

The work “My Tho” of Pham Thien Phu (1994) describes the city of My Tho and the nice flowing Tien river surrounds population area like a symbol of the Mother Nature hugging her daughter. The drawing is highly appreciated because of its harmonious tone, great combination of images and hometown symbol and it brings a great story about architecture, history, culture, people…to introduce to international friends.

Dinh Hoang Tam (1995) describes his father’s hometown in his work named “Tien Giang- the gathering boats”, emphasizes the colorful and glowing floating market “Cái Bè”. He said: “I had been infatuated when hearing my father talk about the floating market, but I was still overwhelmed when seeing the landscapes, heritages and local people with my eyes.”

Therefore, apart from the submitted works, the top 10 participants have to overcome an important interview so that we could fully assess the creators and their works. They are very creative, impressive and amaze us with their creative ideas and presentations.” The most excellent participants will receive the most valuable awards:
  • One 1st prize: A full tuition fee scholarship of 182.000.000 VND at London College for Design and Fashion and 5.000.000 VND in cash.
  • One 2nd prize: A scholarship of 91.000.000 VND at London College for Design and Fashion and 3.000.000 VND in cash.
  • One 3rd Prize: 2.000.000 VND in cash.
  • One idea prize: 2.000.000 VND in cash.
This will be a great beginning for your dream conquering journey for young passionate designers. According to the Committee of Organization, this year’s award ceremony will have lots of interesting activities, including: Best exhibition works, exchange between candidates and the Committee of Organization on how to improve design skills and experiences for better work demonstration, workshop on how to create good art portfolios.
